• Hotel

  • Where is the hotel located?

The Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel is at 50 North Third Street in downtown Columbus, Ohio.

  • If the hotel block books up or sells out, where can I stay?

Fortunately, the convention is held in an easily accessible area of the city with several comparable hotels within walking distance. For those on a budget, Columbus offers numerous other hotel choices within easy driving distance of the convention hotel.

In previous years, staff and attendees found rooms online within walking distance at the following hotels for the following rates:

    • -Residence Inn (36 E Gay St) - $199
    • -Courtyard by Marriott Columbus Downtown (35 W Spring St) - $177
    • -Holiday Inn Columbus Downtown Capital Square (175 E Town St) - $140
    • -Red Roof PLUS+ Columbus Downtown - Convention Center (111 E. Nationwide Blvd) - $132
A sampling of other area hotels a short drive away:
    • -Comfort Inn & Suites Downtown Columbus (650 South High Street) - $116 - 5 min drive/25 min walk
    • -Varsity Inn South Hotel (1445 Olentangy River Rd) - $99 - 10 min drive
    • -Comfort Suites (1690 Clara Avenue) - $112 - 6 min drive
    • -Staybridge Suites Columbus-Airport (2890 Airport Dr) - $122 - 8 min drive

  • What will the cost be for the hotel in 2018?

The hotel rooms will be $129 per night plus taxes. There will be rooms with either one King Bed or two Queen Beds available but there are limited quantities so reserve early to get the greatest selection of room type.

  • Why did the location change from the old Ramada location?

In February 2015, the Ramada Plaza closed and informed us that they did not expect to be open again in time for the 2015 convention. The hotel is not expected to reopen nor do we plan to return to it for future years. The convention committee went through a rigorous evaluation of other meeting spaces and hotels within the Columbus area. The result of this evaluation was the selection of the Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel for this year's show. The Renaissance will offer our guests a high-quality hotel experience with excellent amenities at an attractive rate and the area around the hotel provides easy access to a wide variety of dining options.

  • Transportation

  • Where do I park?

The hotel has valet parking (with in-and-out access available to overnight guests) to Cinevent attendees for $16 per day [just show them your badge]. Note that the valet service is only for vehicles less than 6'6" in height and without trailers.
There are also surface lots near the hotel which can be used for parking. The easiest way to find these is to look ahead some maps provided by the city which includes a great map that shows rates or other services such as this one that show a map with parking rates. You also shouldn't have a problem finding a parking space if you just show up and drive around. There are plenty of parking options.
Parking meters are also an option and many of these are free Sundays and Holidays and most now take credit cards.
If you're very concerned about the cost of parking, you also have an option to park further away and take advantage of the city's Free CBUS service or inexpensive city buses to get you to the convention. More info on the bus services available can be found at the COTA web site.

  • How will I get to Cinevent from the airport?

The Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel does not have an airport shuttle. The city bus system (COTA) has added an airport shuttle between downtown and the aiport. An average taxi ride from the airport to the hotel would be about $18-25.
Columbus is also offering Uber and Lyft services so if you're a smart phone user consider this cost-effective alternative for transportation!

  • Can I take a bus to Cinevent?

Yes! The hotel is just two blocks from both High Street (the main North-South road in Columbus) and Broad Street (the main East-West road in Columbus). Buses run down both of those streets and have stops within two blocks of the hotel.

  • Do I need to have a car to get around? What options do I have?

There are several options for getting around downtown near the hotel.
First, this area of Columbus is very "walkable" with food and attractions quite nearby.
In addition, the city just started offering a FREE bus service to some of the best spots downtown - it's called the CBUS. More information on it, including a map of the route, can be found on the CBUS website. The route includes hotspots such as the Short North, German Village, Arena District and Brewery District. The closest stop is just a few blocks away from the hotel at Long & High.
City buses are also an option as well as traditional taxi service and Uber or Lyft.

  • Dining

  • What food options are available?

The hotel's restaurant is Latitude 41. We have arranged with them to provide a daily lunch buffet option for our guests. In addition, there are many restaurants within one-tenth of a mile of the hotel including Tip Top Kitchen, Due Amici, Plantain Cafe, Mitchell's Steakhouse, J. Gumbo's, Rishi Sushi, and Subway. A map of dining options throughout the greater Columbus downtown area can be found and of the nearby areas will be available at the show.

  • I heard everything downtown is expensive. What inexpensive options do I have?

For eating downtown, there are over 50 choices that Yelp ranks as "$" (cheap) within 4 blocks of the hotel. Do your own search with Yelp to find a food choice that suits your needs.
